History 421- All students should be prepared to do their slideshow presentation on Monday. We will begin on Monday with names being randomly selected. Anyone not prepared to present will lose 10% minimum. The presentations will continue on Tuesday during the Hist 421 exam block on Tuesday morning.  This presentation should be well organized and students should be well prepared. This project serves as the midterm exam with a value of 15% for the entire course.

Law 531- Reminder that we will conduct a review on Monday for the midterm exam. The midterm exam is scheduled for Tuesday afternoon ( Nov 10 at 12:30).

Law 521- Monday’s class will be used to review the work we have completed over the term. Students should come prepared with questions on any specific areas of concern or areas where clarification is needed. The exam is scheduled for Thursday afternoon (Nov12 12:30pm).

Important information….please read:

In response to a new directive from Public Health, we are required to return the vaccination consent forms to the students. Although it states that the bottom section (Screening by Nurse) is to be completed by the nurse prior to vaccination, we have been instructed to have parents/guardians complete the last three questions. The Public Health nurse is responsible for only the first question: “Are you/your dependent sick or do you have a fever today?” Please complete this and return the consent as soon as possible. Without authorized written consent, the student will not be vaccinated. Please ensure your student’s health card information is completed in the upper right hand corner of the form.

History 421- Class spent period in the computer lab working on their slideshow project for the midterm exam. Students must be prepared to present their slideshow project on Monday. Some students will present prior to the official exam period to ensure we can complete all of them.

Law 531- Discussed the key jobs/responsibilities of the participants in a criminal trial: judge, defence, prosecutor, witness, jury, court clerk, court reporter, court security officer, sheriff, etc. If you missed any of thes notes due to absence make sure you get them from someone who was in class.

Law 521- Chapter 7 slideshow used for discussion/notes. We went over the roles of all the participants in a criminal trial as well as the qualifications/role for jury duty.

History 421- Began Chapter 5 Examing the classical style of ancient Greece in areas of the arts, drama, architecture. Read section one.

Law 531- Examined the Criminal court structure of PEI. Students know which if any assignments they owe…..get them completed if you are one of these people.

Law 521- Discussed the importance of the preliminary hearing in the criminal courts (see chapter 7).

History 421- Class wrote chapter 4 Quiz today. Everyone was shown their marks up to this point…if you owe any work ge it in!!. Tomorrow your mini research report on the Parthenon is due.

Law 531- Chapter 6 review was completed. Students were told individually what if any work they had outstanding/owed.

Law 521- Class wrote Ch.6 Quiz. We will continue with Criminal Court System (Ch.7 ) tomorrow.

History 421- Chapter 4 Ancient Greece Quiz tomorrow…..make sure you study.

Law 531- Students need to finish Chapter 6 review. Students that have not passed the scrapbook project must to so to avoid an incomplete in the course.

Law 521- Completed a brief review for Ch. 6 Quiz which is tommorrow. Page 157 Answer Questions #1,3,7,8.

History 421- We reviewed the various events of the Persian Wars in ancient Greece. Section 4 assignments were due today…if you did not pass it in then be sure to get it in on Monday! Chapter 4 Quiz will be mid week (likely Wednesday).

Law 531- Watched Catch me if you can. Fictional crime stories are due.

Law 521- Students passed in the Human Rights web based research report today. We watched Catch me if you can. There will be a Chapter 6 quiz on Wednesday.

History 421- Students received there ancient Egypt reports back. Items that students should be working on:

1) Chapter 4 Ancient Greece Section 4 assignment (question sheet) due tomorrow

2) Mini-research paper on the Parthenon of ancient Greece due Thursday Oct 29

 

Law 531- Today we discussed/notes from the slideshow outlining the people that can be part of a crime: perpetrator, aiding, abetting, counselling, accessory after the fact.

Things to be completed if not yet passed in:

1) Current events scrapbook project

2) Chapter 5 Final assignment (handout with questions)

3) Fictional story of a crime…..be sure to include the various people (perp, aiding,etc)

 

Law 521- Today we spent the class in the computer lab working on the Human Rights web based research assignment. It is due tomorrow. If you have not passed in your scrapbook or the Chapter 5 assignment (text based questions) do so asap!

History 421- Students passed in the worksheet on sections 1 &2. We took notes on the Greek polis and started Section 3 Rivals which compares/contrasts Sparta and Athens.

Law 531- Scrapbooks that have not been passed in must be ASAP. We started our unit on criminal law today.

Law 521- Spent the class in the library working on the Human Rights web assignment Part A) Human Rights issue B) Info from the PEi Human Rights Commission website. This assignment will be due Friday. Reminder that Scrapbooks are due Wednesday!!!

History 421- Watched Troy. We will begin Section 2 The Polis tomorrow.

Law 531- Scrapbook is due tomorrow.

Law 521- We completed the slideshow notes for Chapter 5 Human Rights. Students who failed to complete their questions from last week must do so tonight: page 115 #1-2, page 119 #4-5, page 129 #1-2. Case Studies assigned: Read each individual case and complete the case questions Case and questions in yellow box)….the cases are on pages 119, 121, 123, 124, 125.
